Valentine’s Day is upon us, and with it, a new take on the 2000 John Cusack rom-com High Fidelity. This time, Zoe Kravitz is running a record store and recounting loves lost in the 10-episode limited series, which drops on Hulu Friday, February 14.
Kravitz plays Rob, the perfect heroine for those feeling hopeless in the romance department. In this adaptation, also inspired by the 1995 Nick Hornby novel of the same name, Rob is spends her days running a record store in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. While on the clock, she recounts her top five most harrowing heartbreaks for her friends Cherise (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) and Simon (David H. Holmes).
“The part of Rob is the closest thing to me I have ever played,” Kravitz told ELLE for her February cover story. “I know Rob so well. I, too, found being a teenager and young adult hard to navigate, and music was a refuge for me, somewhere to hide. I made playlists and would lie on the floor of my room listening to Jeff Buckley, learning the lyrics to songs that were the emotional soundtrack of my life.”
